UPDATE: According to a spokesperson for the City of Johnson City, all roads have reopened.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Atmos Energy told news Channel 11 Tuesday night that roads surrounding the Knob Creek Road-Sunset Drive intersection will remain closed until early Wednesday morning as crews continue to repair a gas leak.

“This intersection will be closed to traffic in all directions until the early morning of September 11 as Atmos Energy’s highly trained technicians are on scene making the necessary repairs,” the update from the company said.

The City of Johnson City is asking drivers to avoid several roads on Tuesday afternoon including and surrounding Knob Creek Road until further notice due to a gas leak.

According to a post by the city, crews were working to repair the gas leak, and its exact location was not specified.

The following roads have been closed to all traffic for an “unknown amount of time”:

Knob Creek Road from Camelot Circle to Sunset Drive, State of Franklin at Sunset Drive, Sundale Road at Sunset Drive, and Guaranda Drive at Knob Creek Road.
