ETSU hosts tailgate party on Saturday for students

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL)—The East Tennessee University State (ETSU) campus welcomed students dressed in blue and gold to a tailgate party on Saturday to celebrate the Bucs’ first home game of the season.

Will Jones, ETSU senior Nursing student, told News Channel 11 about the excitement in the atmosphere.

“I think ETSU does a great job of building the community and getting everybody together,” said Jones. “It’s a very family-oriented school. Everyone here is family. I think specifically at the start of the fall semester, we started out with a preview, and it just brought all the upcoming new students in. And I mean, football season starts right as the semester starts.”

Jones said the tailgate party is a great place to make friends and engage in student life.

“And I just think ETSU does a great job of getting everybody involved,” said Jones. “And I think it’s a great place to just come here and just, you know, make friends. I mean, it’s just it’s always a great time. You’re not going to have a bad time at a tailgate.”
