JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The former director of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center has resigned from a position he was temporarily reassigned to in July.

Dean Borsos, the medical center’s former director, was temporarily reassigned to the VA MidSouth Healthcare System network director’s office in July. At the same time, former associate director Dr. Colleen Noe was temporarily detailed to the Veterans Integrated Services Network office in Nashville.

Two Quillen VA Medical Center officials temporarily reassigned amid investigation

Borsos and Noe were temporarily reassigned amid an investigation into allegations of wrongdoing and failure to follow VA processes properly.

On Thursday, a VA spokesperson confirmed Borsos had resigned on Aug. 21.

The VA did not provide any further information regarding the circumstances of Borsos’s resignation.

Josh Pridgen began serving as the acting director at Quillen on July 25. The VA spokesperson confirmed Pridgen will continue to serve in that role through Sept. 19.

After that, Martina Malek will take over as acting medical center director while the VA works to formally select a new director.

Noe remains in her reassigned position in Nashville as of Thursday, the spokesperson confirmed. Johna Seymore has served as the acting associate director since Noe’s reassignment.

The VA’s investigation into the alleged misconduct remains ongoing.
