ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) — Members of the Carter County Board of Education discussed the future of the former Little Milligan Elementary School during its meeting Thursday.

The board is looking into selling the building, which the county commission must approve.

Officials say a non-profit is interested in the building for events like sporting events, picnics, and church gatherings.

“I love that community. Those are wonderful people,” Board Chairman Kelly Crain said. “They have some wonderful plans for that building. They have all kinds of things for the community and the local surrounding areas. I’d love to see them be able to get it.”

If the county commission approves the sale of the building, it will be posted for 30 days and the Board of Education will have the right to accept or reject any and all bids.
