JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Washington County Board of Education voted to make a counteroffer on the old Jonesborough Middle School.

Earlier this year, the Town of Jonesborough offered $1.3 for the building.

On Thursday, the school board approved a counteroffer of $2.2 million while also stipulating that the board maintain some road access next to the property.

School Superintendent Jerry Boyd expects there to be some back-and-forth, but the board hopes to hear back from the Town of Jonesborough by its October meeting.
