Happy Tuesday and welcome to the Streetwise newsletter!

I recently gave Wisconsin Rapids readers an update on two car washes planned in the city. Tidal Wave Auto Spa has plans to build a new car wash on the edge of the former Shopko parking lot, near the existing Sudzee Car Wash. Plans for this car wash come after the announcement that Big Lots, Marshalls, Harbor Freight and Five Below will open inside the former Shopko building.

Extreme Clean Carwash will start demolition of the former Barrett's Auctions at 4120 Eighth St. S. this spring, and construction could start this summer. This car wash is on track to open this fall or winter.

Here's a friendly reminder that city officials approve site plans and zoning requirements, and they aren't in positions to deny a business or competitor who wants to open in the city, especially if zoning and site plans are in order.

In Stevens Point, Cousins Subs will celebrate its new Stevens Point location with a grand opening event Wednesday. The brand built a new sandwich shop to replace the existing site that opened on Division Street 20 years ago.

Coming up, I'm working on looking back at some of the most popular and most-missed restaurants in both the Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point areas. Keep an eye out for a throwback to some memorable places in the area.
