The National Weather Service is urging caution in several mountain towns around Colorado due to rapid snowmelt that's likely to cause flooding.

Impacted areas in the most recent issue of 'flood warning' alerts include Elk River at Milner impacting Routt County, East River at Almont impacting Gunnison County, and the Colorado River above Grand Lake as well as the Fraser River from Winter Park to Granby impacting Grand County. Dangerous conditions are expected to persist for several days in most cases, with those in these areas advised to check for regular updates related to timing on the National Weather Service website .

The forecasting service urges caution when near these areas as sudden flooding can occur, also noting that water flow will be high and fast, making it more dangerous to enter the water in these areas, as well.

Nighttime can be a particularly dangerous time in the event of flooding, as it's more difficult to notice when flooding is occurring. Never attempt to drive through flooded areas.

Flooding during this time of the year can be normal, as snow melts quickly, filling rivers and creeks with ample water.

Follow along with these flood warnings and other weather reports on the National Weather Service website .

Yeah, with this Global Warming having caused record cold and record snowfall flooding is likely. We obviously must do more to fight this existential threat to all the world's population.
