Winston Salem police say they've caught up with the suspect who shot and killed a man one week ago. Today. They arrested Damon Hudson today at his home. He's being held without bond on charges of murder, robbery and drugs. Investigators say he shot and killed blake warren in a breezeway at the Burke Ridge Crossing apartment complex Just off a Griffith Road, Warns killing is the city's 34th homicide of the year. On June 2, Damond Hudson entered guilty pleas to second-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon for the murder of Blake Warren in 2021.According to the Forsyth County District Attorney's Office, on Nov. 1, 2021, Hudson scheduled a meeting with Warren with the intention of purchasing marijuana. Hudson directed Warren to a vacant apartment and told him what time to be there. Ring doorbell camera footage shows Hudson arriving at a nearby apartment a few minutes later. The week before November 1, 2021, Hudson had set up a meeting to purchase a firearm from Mr. Warren, but never showed up," a news release said.Hudson was interviewed by detectives. The DA said Hudson initially denied knowing Warren and also denied being near the scene of the evening. "When confronted with the incriminating evidence, including the changed cell phone number and the defendant’s communications with Warren, Hudson admitted he had made the plans to meet with Warren and that he was present. However, Hudson denied being the one to kill Warren, claiming he had only driven someone else. The defendant never identified the unknown third party. There was no evidence to support that claim," a release said.Hudson was sentenced to 157-201 months imprisonment.
