WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — Winston-Salem police investigated a reported shooting at a Burger King on Friday afternoon.

According to a WWinston-Salem Police Department news release, officers responded around 2:30 p.m. to the Burger King on Peters Creek Parkway after getting a call about a disturbance involving weapons.

Officers were also told an employee was hiding in the bathroom who said someone had a gun and then a gunshot.

Arriving officers found the victim, a 27-year-old Winston-Salem man, in the parking lot. He had been shot in the leg.

Investigators say the suspect, 29-year-old Santonio Lorenzo Mcduffie, went to the Burger King to confront the victim about a previous incident involving them both.

A fight then began, the victim was shot in the leg and the suspect left the restaurant.

Officers then found the suspect vehicle at Garfield CT, and the Mcduffie was found inside a home.

A search warrant was executed, and Mcduffie was arrested and charged with assault.

The victim is in the hospital being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
