Lakes Region Mental Health Center is recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month this May. Since 1949, Mental Health America, its 141 affiliates, and countless others have observed the month of May as Mental Health Month by reaching out to millions of people to spread the word that mental health is something everyone should care about. Mental Health Month is a time to raise awareness, educate the public about mental health conditions and the importance of prevention and early intervention, reduce the stigma that surrounds these conditions, and encourage screening. Canal Street Block Party returns this weekend
