In 2015, Neuqua Valley joined the DuPage Valley Conference alongside Waubonsie Valley and Metea Valley. The move ensured that the Wildcats would play head-to-head against Naperville Central on the football field every season. To commemorate the new rivalry, the Wildhawk trophy was debuted that fall in honor of Naperville Central grad and Neuqua Valley teacher and football coach, Tom Schlegel. Since passing away from pancreatic cancer in 2006, Schlegel’s memory lives on through his friends, family, and the football programs that meant the most to him. The Argonauts donned purple for their South Suburban Red matchup with Eisenhower on Sept. 29 to honor the life of Phillip Rossburg Sr., who died the day before at age 61. Rossburg’s son, Phil, is the Argonauts’ head coach.

Seniors are champs at the annual powderpuff game
The seniors defeated the juniors in the annual powderpuff football game on Sept. 29. The final score was 105-56. The game commenced at 2 p.m. The football field was split in half, but one game, juniors versus seniors, happened on each half of the field. Senior Kali Waller, who scored multiple points, set the record for the most individual touchdowns scored in one powderpuff game. Sophia Spinelli also scored a touchdown to advance the senior team.
Women’s soccer off to scorching start
The NCC women’s soccer team is currently on a four-game win streak, defeating Kalamazoo College, Transylvania University, Adrian College and conference rival, Elmhurst University. The last two games saw a combined 12-0 shutout, NCC winning 5-0 and 7-0 respectively. This recent stretch has catapulted them into the third overall spot in the Region VIII rankings, according to United Soccer Coaches (USC).
