Annual July 4th Fireworks Launch Location Moved to Langum Park
The Annual July 4th Fireworks will be launched from Langum Park, located at 7th and Madison Avenues in downtown St. Charles. The move is in response to public safety recommendations on behalf of emergency responders, led by the St. Charles Police Department, working in collaboration with the St. Charles Park District. This new launch site allows the fireworks to be seen along the Fox River, with the best viewing locations on the south side of downtown St. Charles.
Two Businesses Cited for Selling Tobacco to Minors
Mayor Lora Vitek, acting as Liquor Control Commissioner, enforced local tobacco ordinances for two local businesses cited for selling tobacco/alternative nicotine products to minors. North Randall Road Lane Closures Begin June 5
Northbound traffic on Randall Road will be reduced to a single lane near the intersection of W. Main Street/IL Rt. 64 and Randall Road for work on a City of St. Charles water system improvement project. Construction is scheduled to begin the week of June 5, 2023 and will continue through June 16, 2023, weather permitting. Access to local business will remain open.
Coroner identifies man shot, killed by police in Kane County after chase
The above video is from a previous report.CHICAGO (CBS) -- The man who was shot and killed by police in Kane County earlier this week has been identified.James Moriarty, 38, of Aurora, died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Kane County Coroner's Office.Moriarty's death came after a carjacking that led to a police chase and crash which shut down the intersection at Fabyan Parkway and Randall Road on Wednesday. The Kane County Sheriff's Office said the driver of the stolen car got out of the car with a handgun. A K9 named Hudson was released and bit the suspect. Officers exchanged shots in the middle of the intersection and he was killed.The dog was also killed.No bystanders were injured.

Aurora FC gets second straight shutout in 4-0 win over Chicago Dutch Lions
CHICAGO -- Minnesota Aurora FC shut out a second straight opponent and continued their scoring frenzy with a 4-0 win over Chicago Dutch Lions Saturday.Aurora scored three of its goals in the first half, then added the fourth in the 89th minute. "Starting games as strong as we can is huge," said Maya Hansen. "We're catching teams on their heels as much as we can. We've emphasized picking our moment about when to go forward." Hansen scored twice, and now has three goals and an assist on the season. Kennedy Faulknor also scored, and the final goal of the match was Mariah Nguyen's first of the season.Aurora won its season opener 5-0 against Rochester FC.

SUGAR GROVE, Illinois - A funeral is planned for K9 Hudson, who died in the line of duty while protecting Kane County Sheriff's deputies from a carjacker with a gun. According to investigators, the chain of events began with a carjacking on May 24 in Aurora. The vehicle was later spotted near Randall Road and Silver Glen in South Elgin. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver reportedly picked up speed.

A Naperville man has been accused of injuring a deputy while resisting arrest, according to a news release from the DuPage County State’s Attorney and DuPage County Sheriff. Bond was set Wednesday at $250,000 for Nathan Pope, 40, who has been charged with resisting or obstructing a peace officer with injury, for the incident which took place on Tuesday, May 23.

DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. - An Addison man has been found guilty of setting fire to a vehicle in the parking lot of an Elmhurst car dealership in April 2022. DuPage County jury found Dario Salas, 40, guilty of two felony counts of arson for the April 13, 2022 fire at Elmhurst BMW, located at 500 W. Lake Street, according to DuPage County state's attorneys office.
