Two County Pursuit ends after Fayette Juvenile in Stolen Vehicle Collides Head-on with Kentucky State Police Cruiser near Winchester, Kentucky

WINCHESTER, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that on Monday June 5, 2023, KSP observed a stolen 2018 Black Honda Accord on Newtown Pike, which the Lexington Police Department had previously been in pursuit of earlier, and contacted the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, in reference to a bolo of the stolen vehicle in question.

A traffic stop was initiated, but the vehicle failed to yield and continued traveling on I-75 South in Fayette County just before 4:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. The pursuit continued on I-75 until the operator exited at the 96 mile marker on I-64 eastbound, where the vehicle continued until entering the city limits of Winchester. Once the vehicle entered the city limits of Winchester, the pursuit was terminated.

The Winchester Police Department and Clark County Sheriffs' Office observed the vehicle exiting the city limits and initiated their emergency equipment attempting to stop the vehicle again. The vehicle continued fleeing on East Washington Street and struck a Kentucky State Police Cruiser head-on near the intersection of East Washington Street and Canewood Drive in Clark County.

Following the collision, the vehicle rolled down an embankment and nearly struck a residence. The female operator attempted to flee the scene on foot and was quickly apprehended and identified as a 16 year old juvenile out of Fayette County. The juvenile was taken into custody and lodged at a juvenile detention center.

The passenger, Rodrenique Davis, an 18 year old female also from Fayette County, was also taken into custody and lodged at the Clark County Detention Center.

The Kentucky State Police Trooper and K-9 Johan were not injured during the collision.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Kentucky State Police.
