Long-Awaited Bridgeport Skating Rink to Open Friday
A proposal brought publicly before City Council this past May will become a reality this week when the City of Bridgeport opens up a synthetic. Construction on the rink on the grounds of the Benedum Civic Center took place last week after parts needed to get the construction going and completed arrived. The seasonal rink will likely be open to Jan. 28, according to online information.

Men's Basketball falls to Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut - The American International College men's basketball team lost an 87-75 contest at the University of Bridgeport on Saturday, December 9. The Purple Knights started the game on a 3-0 run before Justice Ellison knocked down a three off of a pass from Lovre Zaja. Aguibou Balde then cut the gap to one with a layup from Jacob Barnett, but on the next possession the hosts hit back with a three. Jalen Jordan had an answer, putting back a miss by Barnett to make it 9-7 Bridgeport at the first stoppage.

Athletics: Last weekend at the Nike National Cross Country Championships in Portland, Mayclim, as a member of the combined cross country team, was the top New York runner at the 3.1 mile course finishing 67th overall out of 201 finishers. He ran a time of 16:04.9. ... This post-season, he won the Westchester County title for the second straight year, finished fifth at the Section 1 championships, was ninth at the NYSPHSAA championships, fifth at the NYS Federation Championships, and was fourth overall at the Nike NY regional qualifier. ... The captain of the cross country team has garnered All-League (four times), All-County (three times), and All-Section (two times). ... Mayclim is the captain of the indoor and outdoor track team. ...
