Hunt’s Frazier celebrated after nerve-wracking 100th win

Minutes following a drama-packed 3-2 victory on a walk-off penalty kick against Dixon on the Hunt High pitch Monday evening, sizable, brilliant blue balloons were hoisted high into the air and formed the number 100.

What in the world?

This was the manner Warriors players and their parents chose to recognize head coach Richard Frazier for his 100th coaching victory in seven seasons.

“I really had no idea,” Frazier exclaimed. “The girls and their parents surprised me.”

Frazier, assisted by former Hunt boys soccer star Eric O’Brien, downplayed the century mark wins or an average of 14.3 victories per season.

His focus was upon the fact Hunt is advancing into the fourth round or East Region semifinals of the NCHSAA 3-A girls soccer playoffs for the third straight year. The Warriors also have a third-round advance to their credit in reaching the postseason all seven seasons.

Furthermore, in seven seasons (not counting the COVID-19 season of 2020), Frazier’s teams have either won outright or shared conference championships as members of the 3-A Big East Conference and, now, the 3-A Quad County Conference. Hunt is the only Quad County girls soccer champion.

“All of this says something about the quality of program we are trying to make at Hunt,” Frazier expressed.  “We have worked hard to have a quality program.”
