Bruins, Firebirds square off in Tobs Varsity Classic on Friday

The 2024 season’s final Wilson Tobs High School Varsity Classic, which was originally the first, hits Fleming Stadium with nothing but good weather in the forecast for the five games scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

Headlining the action is Friday’s 7:30 p.m. matchup between Beddingfield and Southern Nash, who were not scheduled to play each other in the original lineup. That Varsity Classic was scheduled for March 22-23 but was wiped out by rain.

Beddingfield also played in the first Tobs Classic on April 12-13 at Fleming.

Friday’s first game pits Bunn versus Croatan at 5 p.m. followed by Beddingfield-Southern Nash. Saturday’s trio of games at Fleming starts at 12:30 with the Raleigh Hawks home school team facing Eastern Christian home school (TEACH), followed by Ayden-Grifton taking on D.H. Conley at 3 p.m. with Wilmington Hoggard and Grace Christian wrapping up the action at 5:30 p.m.

The admission cost is $8 per person per day with ages 5-under admitted free.
