This week in New Castle County, Delaware, several incidents occurred involving drug-related crimes, shootings, and a high crime rate in a specific city. An arrest was made in a drug overdose death, with the suspect facing charges related to drug possession and the possession of a deadly weapon. Delaware City was identified as the city with the highest crime rate in the state, experiencing a decrease in violent and property crimes compared to the previous year. A man was shot and killed inside a home, and another shooting resulted in the death of a Philadelphia man. Additionally, an offender who failed to return from an authorized work pass was located.

Three people were critically injured in a crash that left one of the victims trapped in his vehicle for several minutes. New Castle County Paramedics and rescue personnel from several area fire companies found a 21-year-old man, 20-year-old woman and 16-year-old girl at the accident scene on Union Church Road near Blackbird Landing Road shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday.

Police reported that a 1-year-old girl was abducted while her car was being stolen in Delaware, only to be located miles away in another state. On Nov. 29, police in New Castle County, Delaware reported that a female was in the rear seat of a Nissan Altima parked near a 7-Eleven in Newark.
