(Willmar MN-) Area law enforcement officials were unhappy with legislation passed this session making recreational marijuana legal in Minnesota as of August 15th. Individuals will be able to legally carry up to 2 ounces of pot in public places, and have up to 2 pounds at home for private use. Willmar Police Chief Jim Felt and Kandiyohi County Sheriff Eric Tollefson say the black market, which currently sells cannabis illegally, will be looking to undercut the prices and taxes people will be paying at dispensaries...

...Felt is also upset the legislature made possession of drug paraphernalia legal...

...Officers will also need to undergo training on how to better detect someone who is driving impaired under the influence of cannabis. The effectiveness of police K-9 units who are trained to sit down when illegal drugs, including cannabis, is detected will also be reduced.
