TRANSPORTATION OF MARIJUANA: Efrain Aquino, 35, of New York, was booked at Mendocino County Jail May 24 on suspicion of possessing and transporting marijuana for sale and disorderly conduct. He was arrested by the California Highway Patrol.

Humboldt County Woman Badly Injured in Piercy Crash Saturday
A Humboldt County couple were injured in a northern Mendocino County crash on Hwy 101 while returning from a surgery on the woman’s arm in the Bay Area Saturday. Grace and Bobby Hill drove north on 101 after Grace’s surgery on a broken arm when Bobby drifted off the road near Piercy. Their truck flipped leaving Grace with major injuries. She needed to be medivacked to Santa Rosa. Bobby was also injured though not as seriously.
Sheriff hears from residents in Covelo

Mendocino County DA: Covelo man convicted of murder Monday
A Covelo man was convicted of second-degree murder this week in Mendocino County Superior Court, the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office reported. According to the office of DA David Eyster, a jury found Dino Blackbear Lincoln, also known as Dino Michael Blackbear, a 36-year-old resident of Covelo, guilty of murder in the second degree and felony reckless evading of a peace officer.
Defendant in Covelo Bar Murder Case Found Guilty
A Mendocino County man has been found guilty of murdering a man outside a Covelo bar. Dino Blackbear Lincoln was convicted by a jury for the second degree murder of Kenneth Whipple as well as assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving while evading police. He’ll be sentenced on July 27th and faces up to life in prison. Lincoln’s attorney is planning to appeal. Lincoln killed Whipple in September of 2021 outside The Buckhorn Bar at Greely Street and Highway 162. A couple days later, he led police on a chase in Fort Bragg resulting in another driver getting injured. The chase ended when Lincoln crashed into a ditch and ran away. He was arrested the following day.
