Florida Highway Patrol: Williston man, 33, killed in Monday night crash on SW CR 241

A 33-year-old Williston man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Monday night, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Monday at 9:30 p.m.

Where did the crash occur?

Southwest County Road 241, north of Archer.

What happened?

According to the FHP report, the victim was driving a pickup truck south on Southwest County Road 241 and drifted off the roadway and partially onto the grass shoulder. He then overcorrected to the left and traveled across the roadway and onto the east grass shoulder, where the truck struck several trees.

Area residents reported hearing a loud bang at the time of the crash, however, the vehicle was not discovered until Tuesday morning.

The driver was pronounced dead on scene by Alachua County Fire Rescue.

Tuesday morning crash

FHP also reported a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning that left two Gainesville residents in serious condition and a third in critical condition.

According to the report, a Ford Mustang was headed east on County Road 232 near its intersection with Northwest 69th Drive at about 7:20 a.m. when it left its lane and collided with a Ford Malibu headed west. Both vehicles exited the roadway as a result of the crash.

The driver of the Mustang, a 20-year-old man, and a passenger, a 16-year-old boy, were listed in serious condition. The driver of the Malibu, a 31-year-old man, was listed as critical. All three were transported to UF Health Shands Hospital.
