Williamsport, Pa. — A correctional officer was punched by an inmate at the Lycoming County Prison.

Jaziah Quatrese Strickland, 25, of Williamsport hit two guards while in a multipurpose room at the facility, Detective Stephen Sorage said. Strickland was uncooperative when taking a daily dose of Suboxone, Sorage added.

An officer called for backup after Strickland hit a guard in the face, according to the complaint. A second officer entered the room and was struck by Strickland. The strike broke the officer’s nose and caused a cut underneath his eye.

Strickland was jailed in April for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. At the time, Strickland was on parole for aggravated assault of an unborn child.

Strickland is being charged with two counts of second-degree felony aggravated assault. A preliminary hearing with Judge Aaron Biichle is scheduled for next week. Strickland remains incarcerated at the Lycoming County Prison.
