Virginia Lottery awards Williamsburg teacher with a $2,500 vacation

Her school, Berkeley Middle will also receive $2,500 in school supplies from The Supply Room.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The Virginia Lottery's Thank a Teacher Campaign sent out thank-you notes to more than 68,000 teachers as part of their celebration of National Teacher Appreciation Week, and one lucky teacher in Williamsburg was awarded a cash prize.

Amy Hertzler is a German teacher at Berkeley Middle School. Her name was picked from the prize drawing out of nearly 7,000 submitted entries. Hertzler received a gift card valued at $2,500 from the Virginia Lottery and its partners IGT and NeoPollar Interactive.

Now, Hertzler gets to choose between a Virginia-themed winery and brewery trip or a health and wellness vacation.

Berkeley Middle School will also receive $2,500 in school supplies from The Supply Room.

According to a news release, the program has recognized 14 teachers in Virginia throughout the last seven years. It celebrates teachers for making a difference in so many lives.
