Prairie City Road reopens after repairs, long term improvements remain ahead
Prairie City Road is fully open again between U.S. Highway 50 and White Rock Road following completion of a pavement repair project that brought weekday closures to the heavily traveled corridor. While the recent work addresses some of the roadway’s most immediate problems, city officials say the repairs are an interim fix and that much larger improvements remain in the long-range plans.

SacCity: more lane channelization locations
The City of Sacramento has recently installed lane channelizers at new locations in the central city. The three I’ve noticed are shown below. If you are aware of others, please let me know. The four locations that have been in place for several years are 15th Street (southbound) at O Street and at R Street, and 16th Street (northbound) at R Street and O Street. There are other locations where vertical delineators separate opposing lanes of traffic, which I call centerline hardening; for another post.

Prairie City Road Pavement Repairs Underway
Prairie City Road is closed between U.S. Highway 50 and White Rock Road from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday while pavement repairs are underway. The road remains open overnight and on weekends. The project is on schedule for completion, and the road will fully reopen at 5 p.m. Monday, August 31.

New Gold Runner bus connects Redding to Sacramento with twice-daily service
REDDING, Calif. — A new bus service connecting Redding and Sacramento was officially celebrated Monday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Downtown Redding Transit Center. The Gold Runner began operating a few weeks ago as part of a soft launch.
