Will County Board Approves Election Judge Pay Increase

Will County Clerk Lauren Staley Ferry is pleased to announce that the Will County Board on Thursday approved her request to immediately raise the salaries of Election Judges, starting with the 2023 Consolidated Election.

The base pay for working on Election Day will jump to $200 from $150 for trained Election Judges.

“Our Election Judges provide an incredibly important service to Will County’s voters on each Election Day,” County Clerk Staley Ferry said. “I want to thank the Will County Board for recognizing the value of their work by approving my request for a much-needed pay increase.”

The County Clerk included funding for the pay increase in her current budget. The Illinois Election Code, however, requires County Boards to formally establish pay levels for Election Judges.

Pay Increase For Early Voting Workers

County Clerk Staley Ferry also budgeted this year to increase pay rates for Early Voting workers and Election Judges who collect Vote By Mail Ballots from authorized Drop Boxes. The hourly rates for these workers will rise to $18 from $13.

The Illinois Election Code does not require County Boards to authorize pay rates for Early Voting workers.
