WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A man in his 40s is dead following an accident in which he was struck by a vehicle.

Sergeant Jerry Manuel with the Wichita Police Department said that the accident happened just after 6:30 p.m. near the corner of Dugan Street and Taft. When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, they found a man critically injured. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

WPD is investigating and are asking people to avoid the area.

A bicyclist in his 40s has suffered critical injuries after an accident Thursday evening, in which he was struck by a vehicle.

Sedgwick County dispatch confirmed that the accident happened at approximately 6:35 p.m. in the 400 block of S. Maple Lane. 

The bicyclist was transported to a nearby hospital where he died.
