A California man has been charged in connection with the death of his mother at an east Wichita home.
A charge of first degree murder was filed against 21-year-old Devin Joel of Yuba City, California. He is also charged with aggravated burglary and attempted aggravated robbery. His bond was set at $1 million and attorneys will discuss the case on June 15th.
Joel was arrested on May 30th after police found his mother, 46-year-old Kacy Joel of Wichita, in the back yard of a home in the 5700 block of East Central. She died later at a hospital. Witnesses reported Devin Joel running from the scene and officers caught up with him after a brief foot chase.
