On Thursday the Waukee Police Department and Fire Department responded to a report of a water rescue at a pond in the 2500 block of Grand Prairie Parkway. According to police, two children reported that they lost a fishing pole in the pond and an adult man offered to help retrieve it. The man went underwater, but never resurfaced. Several hours later a dive team recovered the man’s body.

Waukee Police have now identified the victim as 31-year-old Keith Bychinski of Earlham.
