A teenage girl died after she was hit by an MBTA commuter rail train in Whitman on Tuesday night.
Whitman Police Department was notified of a crash involving a southbound train at around 8.30pm, Chief Timothy Hanlon said, and were told that a pedestrian has possibly been struck on the tracks.
A juvenile female was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency crews arrived.

The superintendent of Whitman-Hanson Regional High School, Jeffrey Szymaniak, confirmed that the victim was a student at the school.
“We are all tremendously saddened to hear of this tragic loss. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of this student and all those who knew them,” Szymaniak said.
“We also extend our condolences to our friends at East Bridgewater High School, who were also affected by this tragedy.”
In a statement, Whitman-Hanson Regional School District said that grief counselors are available for students and staff in the coming weeks.

The crash is being investigated by the Massachusetts State Police.
MBTA Transit Police, Hanson Police, East Bridgewater Police and the Whitman Department of Public Works also responded to the scene, which was located about 20 miles from Downtown Boston.
