One man was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter last week for a fatal shooting in White Castle, according to the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office. Daniel Knowles, 22, was arrested Nov. 21 and taken into custody for allegedly killing a White Castle man. He was also charged with obstruction of justice.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for three individuals accused of stealing multiple toys from a store in Prairieville.

• The Plaquemine Fire Department is offering free smoke alarms and installation to local residents. • Interested individuals can obtain a free smoke alarm by completing a one-page form at the Plaquemine Fire Station.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a theft case involving a 2022 yellow Suzuki ORV. The vehicle was last seen on November 13, 2023, and reported missing five days later in Napoleonville. The case is also connected to a burglary on Jones Street in Bertrandville, LA.

PLAQUEMINE, La. (BRPROUD) – City of Plaquemine Mayor Ed Reeves Jr. had successful surgery after he broke his collarbone during a hunting accident early Friday morning. According to the City of Plaquemine on Facebook, Reeves was hunting on his 4-wheeler when he hit a large hole and flipped. The post said the vehicle fell on him, and he broke his collarbone, ribs and leg. Reeves was scheduled to have surgery to fix his collarbone and leg over the weekend.

ST. CHARLES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A 19-year-old is in the custody of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office in connection to a hit-and-run crash on Friday, Nov. 24. According to reports from the Louisiana State Police, around 1:30 a.m., a trooper pulled over to the left side of I-10 west on the Bonnet Carre Spillway near milepost 215 in Norco to help a driver change their tire.

Ascension Parish has recognized Walter Leftwich and his contributions to advancing fire protection in Ascension Parish. Leftwich became a charter member of the Prairieville Volunteer Fire Department, helping it grow into the robust organization it has become, serving the community so well. Having served multiple terms as president of the Prairieville Volunteer FD, and after actively volunteering for many years, Leftwich retired as a lifetime member of the Prairieville Volunteer Fire Department.

Two incidents occurred in Gonzales, Louisiana this week. In the first incident, a suspect wanted on fugitive warrants, including principal to first-degree murder, was arrested in Assumption Parish. The arrest was made in connection with complaints of shots fired in the Bertrandville area. In the second incident, a woman's car was stolen without the thieves ever touching the key. The car was later involved in a shooting and abandoned by the thieves.

• Ascension Parish detectives are searching for two males accused of stealing an ATM in Prairieville. • The theft occurred at a store along Perkins Road. • Video surveillance captured the suspects removing the ATM and fleeing in a stolen white van.

• A man wanted for murder and attempted murder in a shootout at a park in Gonzales, Louisiana, was captured in Assumption Parish. • The shootout occurred on October 8 at Carver Park, resulting in one death and seven injuries.

This week in Prairieville, Louisiana, there were several incidents that occurred. These incidents include theft, violation of a court order, arrest pursuant to a bench warrant, and an ATM theft. Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating these incidents and seeking information from the public.

• Law enforcement officials in Ascension Parish and the Baton Rouge area are launching Operation Sleigh Ride to combat organized retail crime during the holiday season. • The operation is being led by Homeland Security Investigations and will target the Baton Rouge metropolitan area.

Jeremy Anthony Dixon, 43, from Napoleonville, LA, was arrested by Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office deputies. The arrest followed a series of false emergency calls made by Dixon. He had claimed that armed individuals in ski masks were at his home, but this was found to be untrue.

The vandalism cases have happened in recent months, according to parish officials.

Sheriff Leland Falcon of Assumption Parish confirmed the arrest of Malcolm John Baker, 52, from Thibodaux, LA. The arrest followed a public complaint about reckless driving near Napoleonville. Deputies spotted the vehicle near LA 308 and LA 1008 Bridge and stopped it due to the driver's careless behavior.

Sheriff Leland Falcon of Assumption Parish announced the arrest of Mickey Jernell Simmons. Simmons, 36, from Donaldsonville, Louisiana, was arrested for failing to appear in court for gun law violations. He was initially arrested and scheduled to appear in court on August 15, 2022, but did not show up, resulting in a warrant for his arrest.

• St. Gabriel Police Chief Kevin Ambeau has been charged with malfeasance, obstruction, money laundering, theft over $25,000, conspiracy to commit money laundering, conspiracy to commit theft over $25,000, and five counts of failing to maintain public records.

ADDIS, La. (BRPROUD) – The Addis Police Department is asking the public to help them locate a suspect that remains on the run. APD is providing pictures from a trail camera that were captured on Wednesday, Nov. 15. The pictures were snapped while officers searched “the area for suspects involved in a string of burglaries,” according to the Addis Police Department.
