Aaron Rodgers Shoves Coach Robert Saleh During Hug Attempt & Let’s Hope The Jets Can Spin This Into A Positive

A little early-season friction can spark a football team, but the New York Jets and their fans have to be feeling a little tense about this Robert Saleh-Aaron Rodgers exchange. The head coach went to hug his quarterback after their second touchdown drive, and understandably so. When was the last time that man saw two first-half TDs from his offense? Poor man has been through the wringer of poor quarterback play during his time in New York. Rodgers should've been ecstatic, too. Dude's slinging it like Prime MVP Aaron against what's supposed to be a stout New England Patriots defense. Instead, Rodgers spurned Saleh's advances and stared daggers through his mind, body and soul. https://twitter.com/SharpFootball/status/1836935074702385304 Is it nothing? Is it something? Rodgers evidently took issue with something Saleh said or did in the moment. The best caption attempt I've seen is Rodgers saying, "You're so lucky." The other consensus seems to be something to the effect of "too early," which I suppose is fair when you're the New York Jets: https://twitter.com/MacDadSavage/status/1836941729275986004 My only possible inference is that Rodgers' grievance is game management-related. It could be that Saleh wanted to pound the rock more to control time of possession, even though Rodgers has managed the offense so well with a quick-strike passing attack. Multiple running plays resulted in lost yardage on that second scoring drive, only for Rodgers to bail out the team with his own aerial brilliance. I'm really grasping at straws here, though. Rodgers has his
handpicked offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett in charge of the call sheet — and thus complete autonomy to change plays at the line of scrimmage as he sees fit. Maybe Saleh will get a question about Rodgers rejecting his embrace during a halftime interview and we'll have a clearer answer. If not, we'll find out Tuesday on Pat McAfee. All I know is, this should be a 100% joyous occasion for Jets fans, and now they have to worry about some sort of spat between their head coach and future Hall of Fame field general, however fleeting or big-picture inconsequential it may be.
