Life can come at you pretty fast. Just ask
former New England Patriots wide receiver Jalen Reagor. Or I guess to be more specific, former New England Patriots
practice squad wide receiver Jalen Reagor. This morning, he was still a part of an NFL organization and was apparently pretty confident about it too. Now, he finds himself as a free agent, and it might all have to do with a meme that he posted on his Instagram account. Just to give some background information on Reagor, the former TCU standout was drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles - famously one pick prior to the Minnesota Vikings choosing their now franchise star Justin Jefferson. Reagor struggled in Philly in his first two seasons, mainly because he couldn't consistently catch passes (so in other words, his job). And while we are somewhat on the subject, why not revisit this video of Minnesota laughing at Philly for passing on Justin Jefferson: https://twitter.com/LocktoMinny/status/1480587734276136960 Funny enough, Reagor ended up playing for the Minnesota Vikings alongside Justin Jefferson for one season in 2022, but the Vikings also moved on from the wide receiver. So the former first round pick has since found himself battling to just get on a roster, and has been with the New England Patriots practice squad for much of the last two years. And according to the classic meme that he posted onto his Instagram story earlier today, he feels as though he's deserving of a roster spot. The 25-year-old posted this photo below, suggesting that he was "very valuable" and stuck in a place where he didn't belong. My description is putting it nicely:
Reagor was
certainly trying to send a message with that one. Whether it was the fact that he felt disrespected or that he felt as though he belonged on an NFL roster, posting the meme ultimately backfired on the now journeyman wide out. The timing of everything sure does seem to lead one to believe that the Patriots saw that post from Reagor and immediately decided to do this: https://twitter.com/Patriots/status/1836133960235323830 OOF. Talk sh*t, get cut I suppose? So Reagor is now a free agent in the NFL, or as he might say himself, a sports car with no garage to park. And if the social media post was one of the reasons that he got cut (his social media is now wiped clean), it's unlikely that other teams will be lining up at his door to try and sign him. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
