Here's a heartwarming story for you. The news cycle can often times only churn out stories about the bad and the sad, am I right? But this one serves as a great reminder that there are still plenty of good people out in the world, like these students at James Madison High School who made one of their school janitor's dreams come true. A group of sophomore students - named Bennett, Nick H., Nick T., Artin, Joey, Yousif, and Logan - started a GoFundMe during their freshman year to try and help out their janitor, Francis Apraku. The page they set up had this message asking for donations:
"Our favorite custodian, Francis, loves Jeep Wranglers. He moved to America away from his family and friends a few years ago. Ever since we met Francis he has been super kind and friendly and sometimes even says prayers for us. We were talking to him today about what he would want for his birthday and he said he has always wanted a Jeep Wrangler but could never afford it which is why we made this go fund me to try and raise enough to get Francis a Jeep Wrangler by the time we graduate. Any and all donations are very appreciated." Well that goal of "by the time we graduated" ending up taking only a matter of months to reach. If you go visit the page , it says that they raised over $20,000 for the Jeep Wrangler. Once they collected enough money, they decided to not keep their favorite custodian waiting any longer. The group of high schoolers bought a four-door Jeep Wrangler and then arranged to give it to Apraku as a birthday present. They managed to surprise him with the gift outside of a restaurant near the school, and the janitor's reaction was caught on video. When Francis Apraku finally came to the realization that he was being gifted a fully-paid-for vehicle, he fell to the ground while crying tears of joy. The footage of him rolling around on the pavement with his hands extended screaming "Oh my God" is sure to brighten up your day. And when he was asked by the local news station about the generous gift, Apraku gave thanks to the high school students and thanked God for helping him out in such a way:
"I feel happy and I don't know how to describe it. I will give thanks to Almighty God for making today for me. Today is a great day for me and I didn’t believe this would happen in my life." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RZk9RGbS5A
