Spilling the details. Koe Wetzel 's new single is dropping at midnight, and it looks like it will be a massive hit for the Texas native. "Casamigos" was loved by fans long before they heard the entire song. When Koe announced his last project,
9 Lives , he shared teasers for all the songs that would be on the record. The thirty-second sound bites hooked fans to their early favorites from the tracklist, including "Casamigos." But once the album art and more were shared, "Casamigos" went MIA and was nowhere to be found on the tracklist. Because of this, fans were left not only sad that the song was not going to have a home on the album but because they didn't know if they would ever get to hear the full cut of the song. Hearing his fan's questions surrounding the single, he began telling fans on the Damn Near Normal Tour that the reason he chose to do this was so that "Casamigos" could be a stand-alone single . Koe also noted that when telling this crowd about his plan for the song, he also said that this is one of the hardest singles he's written. Koe is letting fans into the details of the song even more with one of his latest posts, "The Journey Of 'Casamigos.'" In this short video, he shares that the song was difficult to write and one of the hardest to finalize.
"Kind of the journey behind 'Casamigos,' it took a while. It was its own song for a bit, and then it changed. I think it changed like five or six different times. Lyrically, musically, just kind of everything... the melody changed. Everything about it. We couldn't really get it right. We knew this song was kind of special, and we wanted it to have its own thing. So it kept changing, kept changing, we'd get used to it for a month or so, and then we'd change it up. But once the final was done, we knew that it was right for the song. I think it going through those ups and downs, and having it's different moments, is kind of one of the reasons why we kept it off the record to begin with. Just so it would have its own light, and its own time. We're super happy with the song. It's one of my favorites off the record. But yeah, it's its own being."
Hearing how much the song shifted between its birth and final form helps explain why the teaser of the track was released and removed from the final tracklist. https://www.instagram.com/p/C_wSjWORHpS/ We are less than 12 hours away from "Casamigos" being in our hands, and I can't wait. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lzuz0pb7LjU
