A number one album filled with number one hits. On this day in 1987, Randy Travis
was topping the charts with his monumental album Always & Forever. The album, released on May 7th of 1987, was Travis' second country record via Warner Bros. Records. The album was recorded the year before at StarGem and Audio Media studios in Nashville, Tennessee, and is one of the most successful works by a North Carolina native. In addition to being a number-one hit, the record had four number-one singles, which was a fairly rare accomplishment at the time. https://twitter.com/callsignENIAC/status/1644133484414337025 "Too Gone Too Long," "I Won't Need You Anymore (Always and Forever)," "Forever and Ever, Amen," and "I Told You So" all hit the top of the Billboard Hot Country Chart. https://www.instagram.com/p/C8IeZg9h6zl/ The record won Travis a Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Performance, Male at the 30th Annual Grammy Awards, which was well deserved. The record not only won the artist a handful of awards but is arguably one of his most loved albums by fans. "Forever and Ever, Amen" is a Randy Travis classic love song and one of the most beloved in his catalog. But, for those who did not know that this single sits alongside some of his other massive hits, now you know. Along with this single comes the iconic performance of Travis singing the hit as he walked through the Grammy Awards crowd, shaking the hands of those who sat in the audience. Travis is a class act, and this had to be one of his career's most memorable TV moments. Thirty-seven years later, these songs are still just as loved as they were when they hit the radio. Randy Travis' catalog genuinely ages like fine wine, getting better and better as each year passes.
