Gotta think that was an emotional reunion. Just two weeks ago, San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was rushed to the hospital after being shot during an armed robbery attempt in Union Square in San Francisco. Video from the scary scene showed the first round draft pick in the 2024 NFL draft being led to an ambulance while bleeding from the gunshot wound to his chest. A 17-year old has been charged with attempted murder in the shooting, which was reportedly over the Rolex that Pearsall was wearing. Pearsall was originally listed in "serious but stable" condition after the shooting, and was ultimately released a day later. One of the first responders credited with saving Pearsall's life was San Francisco Police Sgt. Joelle Harrell, who was on the scene moments after the shooting and treated the wide receiver as they waited for an ambulance. And in an interview after the shooting, Harrell recalled the heartbreaking conversation she had with the 24-year old:
"He’s like, ‘Am I gonna die?’ and I told him, ‘Remember, you’re gonna be OK. You’re strong, right?’ Because I had told him out there, ‘Be strong like you are out there on the field.'" Well the 49ers are in action tonight for the first time this season, taking on the New York Jets at Levi's Stadium. And while Pearsall isn't playing tonight, he's still at the game supporting his teammates - and the first responders who saved his life. Ahead of the game, Pearsall presented Sgt. Harrell and Dr. Lucy Kornblith with signed jerseys during an emotional reunion on the field. https://twitter.com/49ers/status/1833303075018113458 Awesome stuff. Hopefully they'll be able to cheer on Pearsall in person when he's back out on the field sooner rather than later.
