Bear Mercilessly Chases Down Elk Calf In Yellowstone National Park

It's a bear-eat-elk world out there. Nature and the circle of life aren't as fun as cartoons and movies make them out to be. Out in the real world, animals are either looking for food, or they are
the food. Usually, it's both. And unfortunately for the young animals that are out there, they are the easiest of targets when predators are searching for a meal. Though animals at the top of the food chain like bears could target prey of really any size or age, they'll never pass up an easy hunt. And the creatures that are usually on the other side of that hunt are inexperienced and small in stature, like this elk calf that unfortunately found itself running for its life. It's believed that this video is out of Specimen Ridge in Yellowstone National Park. The 8.5 mile ridge in the Lamar Valley section of the park offers up beautiful views of the surrounding landscape - and occasionally is the setting for a bear chasing and taking down its own dinner (notice that the bear isn't even running at full speed). In a way, this young bear is just doing its part in the elk population control. This video, albeit very brutal, is really an example of nature taking course. The young elk in this video probably wouldn't find comfort in that (nor would its mother), but at the end of the day, stuff like this is bound to happen out in the wild. And someone just so happened to be in the right place at the right time in Yellowstone to capture the violent takedown on video. Obviously, this clip below isn't for the faint of heart, but for those that
can handle it and find nature chase downs enthralling, the footage is actually stunning. Check it out: https://www.instagram.com/p/C-3O1lSRzOp/
