Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills begin their 2024 season with a 34-28 win over the Arizona Cardinals in a nail-biter of an opening game on Sunday at Highmark Stadium.

Despite facing a 17-3 deficit, at one point, in the second quarter, the Bills managed to fight back to secure a season-opening victory, and it started with the play of quarterback Josh Allen.

While Allen did not get going until later in the second quarter, the 28-year-old was able to put up an impressive performance with 232 yards passing, two touchdowns in the air, two touchdowns on the ground, and a 137.7 passer rating.

"Don't blink, we've been here before," said Allen on Sunday following the win in Orchard Park. "We knew we were getting the ball at halftime. We get the ball, find a way to score points before and after the half. And coach [Sean] McDermott preaches that all of the time, that's good situational football by all of our guys."

Allen's second rushing touchdown of the game came about halfway through the fourth quarter with another hurdle of an opposing defender. This time, he leaped over two-time All-Pro safety Budda Baker to put the Bills in the driver's seat late in the game.

"Split-second situations. The first rushing touchdown, I kind of lowered the shoulder knowing it was a corner. The second time, I knew it was Budda," Allen acknowledged. "Budda's a good player, and he'll lay the boom on you, so I decided to go up and over. Probably can't make a living doing that."

After Sunday's victory, Allen and the Bills have a short turn-around as they head to South Florida to take on their division rival Miami Dolphins on Thursday night.
