WESTLAND — Police are investigating an early Thursday morning homicide in the city.

Deputy Chief Robert Wilkie said in a press release that police were dispatched at about 2 a.m. June 1 on a report of a subject who had been shot.

Officers first located a 32-year-old Romulus man who had suffered a gunshot wound and according to the release, "subsequent investigation and calls indicated that the incident occurred in the 37000 block of Scotsdale Circle."

Upon arrival at that location, officers found a second victim, a 36-year-old Dearborn Heights woman who had also suffered a gunshot wound.

Both victims were transported to area hospitals, where the woman died. The man who was shot is currently in stable condition.

Westland Police do not believe the incident is random and said they would provide more information as it becomes available.
