Westfield’s Lauren Connor places second at girls golf sectional championship, five WMass golfers qualify for states

Westfield’s Lauren Connor led all Western Massachusetts competitors at the North/Central/West girls golf spring sectional tournament at Cold Spring Country Club in Belchertown on Tuesday.

Connor tied for second overall with a score of 72 (+1), good enough to qualify for the state championship at Longmeadow Country Club on June 6.

Connor is no stranger to postseason golf. The sophomore won a Western Massachusetts sectional title last year as a freshman.

Westford Academy’s Molly Smith placed first on Tuesday with a final score of 71.

Four other Western Mass. golfers also qualified for the state championship. Agawam’s Isabella Fleury finished the day with a score of 77 (+6) and tied for 11th place. Pope Francis’ Lily Frost also tied for 11th place.

Longmeadow’s Olivia Foard finished with a score of 78 (+7) and placed 14th, while the Lancers’ Cecily Henshon shot an 83 (+12) and placed 21st.

West Springfield’s Julia Pace tied fro 30th by shooting a 87. Palmer’s Lilyana White shot for 91.
