Officer hit by vehicle on Western Ave in Westfield

Update: The name of the officer that was hit is Officer Jared Hague.

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Westfield police officer was struck by a vehicle while working at a traffic detail on Western Avenue Tuesday morning.

According to Westfield Mayor Mike McCabe’s Facebook page, City Hall was lit up blue for Officer Jared Hague two nights ago, after being hit by a vehicle on Western Ave. near Highland Ave.

He was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Westfield Police Captain Steve Dickinson told 22News. And appears to be in stable condition, alert, and speaking, according to the Westfield Police Department on Facebook.

It’s unclear if the person who struck the officer will face charges. 

Western Avenue was closed shortly from Highland Avenue to Baystate Noble Hospital as the investigation was being conducted, and no further information was provided.
