One dead, one injured, in single-vehicle, Monroe County, crash
NORWALK, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – One man is dead and another is hurt after a car hit a tree in Monroe County Thursday morning (5/23/24). The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the crash around 4:30 am. The vehicle was reportedly heading north on State Highway 71 when, after going through a roundabout, left the road into a ditch, then re-entered the road before going off the road again and hitting a tree. 56-year-old Greg Weibel of Norwalk (the passenger in the vehicle) was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the vehicle was hurt but declined medical attention. The crash is under investigation.
