Another man has been arrested for the murder of Ashley Curtiss, 37, after she was shot while sitting in her inside a vehicle stopped at a traffic light on 45th Street around 12:18 a.m. on December 31, 2020.

Police arrested James Leroy Tooks III last week and now Antwane D. Thurston is also behind bars.

According to the affidavit, officers arrived at the scene and located the black Cadillac ATS with numerous bullet holes through the windshield. Curtiss was pronounced dead, she was still in the driver's seat.

Witnesses told police they saw a dark-colored four-door vehicle, later identified as a Chevrolet Malibu, with a dark-colored tint pull up next to the car. Witnesses said that a man was, "hanging out of the driver's side rear window, firing an assault rifle at the victim's front windshield."

You can hear witnesses making those phone calls in the newly released 911 recordings.

Curtiss' sister, Kimberley Pribyl said to CBS12 News they are grateful that justice is finally being served.

"It's very frustrating knowing they were running around for three years scotch free but now finally they have to pay," said Pribyl.

Police say 16 rifle cases were found at the scene of the shooting and police later located the suspect's car which was being rented by Tooks’ father In Riviera Beach. Evidence collected from the Chevy Malibu matched the fingerprints of Tooks and Thurston.

Both men are facing first-degree premeditated murder charges.

"They took away a mother, a sister an aunt, a wonderful beautiful person and it is tragic because it was all for nothing, apparently they got the wrong person," said Pribyl.
