Diners searching for the Butcher Shop Beer Garden & Grill in West Palm Beach this Memorial Day weekend will be disappointed to learn the restaurant featured on Guy Fieri's popular show "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" closed in the fall.

The Butcher Shop in West Palm Beach shouldn't be confused with the The Butcher & The Bar in Boynton Beach, which is still very much open at 510 E. Ocean Ave., Unit 101. The Butcher & The Bar, which opened in 2020, was featured on "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" in March.

The season 34, episode 9 show touting the downtown West Palm Beach Butcher Shop restaurant, which was owned by father-and-son team Igor and Fred Niznik, aired as a rerun Saturday, according to FoodNetwork.com.

What happened to the Butcher Shop?

The Butcher Shop Beer Garden & Grill in West Palm Beach officially closed Nov. 14. It was owned by the father-and-son team of Igor and Fred Niznik.

Igor Niznik, who opened the restaurant about six years ago, said Sunday that he often gets queried on social media after the "Triple D" episode called "Mouthwatering Meat with Fieri" airs as a rerun.

"I have people asking me on Instagram, but at this point, I'm not looking to reopen anything," said Niznik, who lives in Jupiter. "I just want to retire in peace."

Niznik said his restaurant at 209 Sixth St. was bought out in November by a group who had plans to open a kosher restaurant in the space.

Guy Fieri has strong ties to Palm Beach County and Lake Worth Beach

Guy Fieri owns a waterfront home in Lake Worth Beach and is often seen around town, including recently pouring shots at Rocco's Tacos in West Palm Beach.

Fieri, star of myriad cooking shows, bought the home on secluded Bella Vista Avenue in March 2021 for a recorded $3.9 million. The buyer in official Palm Beach County records is a limited liability company called Gus Ritchie 1 — a possible play on the names Gus Ferrari and Guy Ritchie, which Fieri has said fans have called him by mistake.

What's next for Igor and Fred Niznik after the Butcher Shop?

The family-owned Butcher Shop combined a full-service restaurant, outdoor beer garden and retail meat market. The market was an echo of the Niznik family's former butcher shop, Charlie's Meat Market in Palm Beach Gardens.

The Nizniks opened Crusoe Cabana Deluxe in Miami's Wynwood neighborhood last year with White Feather Management Group, according to a press release.

The name is taken from the title character in Daniel Defoe's classic "Robinson Crusoe." The result is a restaurant that focuses on seafood, and, at night, morphs into lounge/club. The venue is located at 165 NW 23 St. in Miami.

"It’s a different concept, a completely different crowd of people, mostly Latinos," Igor Niznik said. "We are in Wynwood and it’s booming, it’s unstoppable."
