Tekashi 6ix9ine was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, March 21, after being attacked by a group of men inside a South Florida gym.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, the assault took place inside the LA Fitness at 8888 Lantana Road in Lake Worth.
The rapper's attorney, Lance Lazzaro, told TMZ 6ix9ine was in the sauna at an LA Fitness when the attack occurred.
6ix9ine was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries in an ambulance following the assault.
The sheriff's office is currently investigating.
"Nothing really surprises me in today's day and age," said Amber Mc Cune, an LA Fitness member from Boynton Beach.
The staff at this LA Fitness told CBS12 News they have no comment and they referred us to the corporate office of LA Fitness for comment.
They have not responded to emails.
No one we spoke with said they feel unsafe coming to this gym in the wake of Tuesday night's attack on the rapper.
"Personally me, I do feel safe because I feel like I'm very aware of my surroundings and I make sure that I look at people when I walk and I make eye contact and hold myself in a certain way, plus I have my husband so that adds more safety," said Mc Cune.
"I feel perfectly safe. This is a great gym. Everybody in here, great people. When you give out good energy, you get good energy. I haven't had no issues here," said Chris Allan, another LA Fitness member.
Sheriff's detectives say the rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, got into a fight with several people inside the gym about just before 9 p.m.
"It is a little weird they would just attack him, like straight up like that," said Sara Fogel, another LA Fitness member.
PBSO is not saying at this point what sparked the fight. But they are searching for the attackers and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
"I think it's just kind of stupid, you know. I mean obviously they've got cameras. They've got people checking you in, you know. People at the front desk probably saw faces. I mean, I don't think they're gettin' far and I think they need to get caught quickly," said Jeff Mc Cune, an LA Fitness member from Boynton Beach.

Some who work out at this LA Fitness say the attack doesn't surprise them.
"He knew he had it comin'. He knew he had it comin'," said Allan.
"It makes sense. Yeah," said Fogel.
'' Why does it make sense?" we asked her. "Well 'cause he, um, he snitched on, I'm not sure what the exact situation is but he got a lot of people like in prison so he didn't have to go to prison," Fogel said.
PBSO did not respond to an email asking how many people they're looking for, the motive for the attack, or if the rapper is still in hospital.
