West Monroe, La. (KTVE/KARD) – One way to preserve this beauty is by being stewards of our planet, as emphasized by Dr. Dalia Kirschbaum, the Director of Earth Sciences at Goddard Space Flight Center, who highlighted the importance of understanding climate change’s impact on our oceans.

Climate change disrupts water cycles, especially in Louisiana, altering precipitation patterns and leading to varied impacts such as intense rainfall, flooding, droughts and water scarcity in different regions.

“Unfortunately 2023 was the hottest year on record…” said Kirschbaum. Rising temperatures can contribute to extreme weather events like droughts, floods and storms.

However, addressing climate change isn’t just about protecting waterways; it’s also about maintaining green and clean communities. West Monroe and Monroe are celebrating Love the Boot Week, offering opportunities for volunteering in various activities to promote environmental stewardship.

Safeguarding our planet’s natural beauty and ensuring the well-being of future generations is a shared responsibility.
