A bettor gambled big on No. 16 Farleigh Dickinson beating out No. 1 Purdue — and won even bigger.
The bet, which was confirmed by DraftKings per Action Network’s Darren Rovell, wagered $33,000 on the Knights beating out the Boilermakers, 63-58, Friday.
The high-risk, high-reward bet paid off immensely, with the bettor pocketing $495,000 from the wager.
Odds were immensely stacked against the bettor.
FDU became an overnight sensation after becoming the second No. 16 seed in NCAA history to upset a No. 1 seed in the first round.
Top seeds now own a 150-2 all-time record in the first round of March Madness.
Purdue literally had a sizable advantage against FDU, boasting 7-foot-4 All-American center and NCAA Player of the Year candidate Zach Edey.
The Knights, meanwhile, are the smallest team in the country, with an average height of 6-foot-1.
FDU sought to continue its Cinderella run on Sunday against Florida Atlantic University in the hopes of dancing to the Sweet 16.
