West Fargo Voters could be asked to approve $130M+ bond referendum to fund school addition and expansions

(Fargo, ND) -- Voters in the West Fargo Public School District could soon be asked to approve a $133 million bond referendum to pay for a new school and expansions at other campuses. 

"I think we certainly would have liked to have waited a few more years before having to do this process again, but like I said at 500 new students each and every year, we've essentially been building one new school every year," said district Business Manager Levi Bachmeir.  

Bachmeir says a task force has put together a list of projects the bond would pay for. That would include a new elementary school at $34.8 million, and expansions at Heritage Middle School and Horace High School. The school board is expected to vote in April whether to put the bond referendum before voters this coming fall.

Bachmeir says the district expects to add roughly 525 new students next year. He says the potential bond referendum does not include money to replace or expand the district headquarters, where they are reportedly out of space.
