Dowling Catholic softball is a family business in 2023
SOFTBALL ENTERING THIS SEASON WITH A NEW HEAD COACH AT THE HELM AND FOR HIM EVERY DAY IS BRING YOUR DAUGHTERS TO WORK DAY. HERE’S TONIGHT’S SUNDAY SPORTS EXTRA. DOWLING CATHOLIC SOFTBALL COACH BRANT PARROTT, SHE’S GIVING YOU ONE WAS LOOKING TO BUILD AN ELITE STAFF. YOU’RE ALWAYS TRYING TO LOOK FOR ASSISTANCE THAT YOU CAN COUNT ON THAT ARE TRUSTWORTHY AND LOYAL AND KNOW THE GAME. AND WHO BETTER TO BRING ON TO THAT STAFF THAN TWO OF HIS OWN? ONE, TWO, THREE. DIRTY AND A PARROT. GUYS, READY? AND MADDIE PARROTT. COME GET IT. GOOD. OUR DOWLING, CATHOLIC ASSISTANTS AND BRENT’S DAUGHTERS, MADISON, A FORMER SOFTBALL PLAYER, HAS BEEN ON BRENT’S STAFFS BEFORE. SHE COACHED AT MARTINSDALE, HER NIGHT AT JUNIOR HIGH TOGETHER. AND THEN SHE ALSO HELPED WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL. IT’S A LOT EASIER FOR ME TO JUMP BACK INTO IT. WHILE ANNA, A CURRENT ATHLETE AT SIMPSON COLLEGE, IS JOINING THE FAMILY BUSINESS. MY DAD WAS A COACH AND I GREW UP ON THE FIELDS FOR THE FIRST TIME. I AM LEARNING FROM BOTH OF THEM, WHICH IS REALLY, REALLY AWESOME BECAUSE I THINK THEY’RE BOTH REALLY GOOD AT WHAT THEY DO. IT’S A FAMILY THAT LIVES AND BREATHES SOFTBALL. IT’S DEFINITELY SOMETHING I THINK WE JUST HAVE A LOT OF PASSION FOR TALKING ABOUT THE GAME. ENDLESS BAILEY PROBABLY TOO MUCH UNTIL MOM SAYS ENOUGH. I’M SURE THAT IT REALLY BOTHERS MY WIFE THAT WE COME HOME AND ALL WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT IS SOFTBALL. IT’S DAD AND DAUGHTERS OFF THE FIELD, BUT ON IT. COACH, ARE YOU READY? HE’S THE BOSS. AND WHAT HE SAYS GOES. THEY HAVE THEIR OPINIONS. I HAVE MY OPINION. AND, YOU KNOW, WE SIT DOWN AND HASH IT OUT AND THEN WE GO WITH MY OPINION. SURE. HIS WORD RULES OUT. IF THAT’S WHAT HE WANTS TO BELIEVE, THEN YES. BUT WHEREAS SOME COACHES WILL MISS CHUNKS OF TIME FROM FAMILY WHILE TRAVELING ON THE ROAD, THIS TRIO DOESN’T MISS A MOMENT. I THINK IT’S INCREDIBLE BECAUSE WE REALLY WE SPEND SO MUCH TIME TOGETHER LIKE YOU DON’T GET THAT OPPORTUNITY. CREATING MEMORIES. I MEAN, I SAW MY DAD ATTEMPT TO DO THE WORM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, SO THAT WAS VERY INTERESTING. THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME. YOU GOT SMOKED BY A FOUL BALL DURING INTRASQUAD SCRIMMAGE. I DID. AND THAT WAS RIGHT AFTER SHE WAS TELLING US TALKING SOME STUFF. AND FOR BRANT PARROTT, EVERY DAY IS BRING YOUR DAUGHTERS TO WORK DAY.
