DANBY, N.Y. (WHCU) – The Finger Lakes Land Trust (FLLT) has added acreage to its massive Lindsay Parsons Biodiversity Preserve.

The organization announced the expansion with a recent purchase in West Danby that will add 8.5 acres to the northeastern corner of the 537-acre Parsons Preserve. It’s the fourteenth addition to the conservation area, which was established in 1995 with just 36 acres.

The property is mostly covered in woods, but it also features a small wetland and tributary to the Cayuga Inlet. Adding the property will further safeguard water quality in the inlet and Cayuga Lake. Some of the funding for the purchase came from FLLT’s Finger Lakes Forever Campaign and the Margaret Bald Estate.
