Lufkin’s Mosley homers in SAGU loss
CHICKASHA, Okla. (KTRE) - Former Lufkin Panther Nick Mosley had two hits, including a home run, in SAGU’S 4-2 loss to Science and Arts on Sunday. Batting seventh and starting at DH, the junior was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Mosley led off the bottom of the third inning with a homer and singled in the seventh.
Hudson’s Warren has RBI, diving catch in UT-Rio Grande Valley win
EDINBURG, Texas (KTRE) - The box score doesn’t do justice for former Hudson Hornet Hank Warren’s RBI in UT-Rio Grande Valley’s 16-0 win over SFA on Sunday. Batting eighth and starting in right field, the junior was 0-for-2 with a walk, run scored and RBI. Warren was partly responsible for the first run in the second inning, a sacrifice fly with the runner scoring from second base. Warren hit a long fly to center field and the runner on second, Damian Rodriguez, tagged up and managed to score from second. It was a close play at the plate with Rodriguez leaping over the catcher, avoiding a tag and touching home plate on the way down.
Woman pleads guilty after Nacogdoches elementary students think meth is candy
BEAUMONT, Texas (KTRE) - A Shreveport woman pleaded guilty to federal drug charges Wednesday stemming from a Nacogdoches incident in 2019. Shatoya Tyshae Doggett, 33, was charged with three counts of first-degree delivery of a controlled substance and four counts of state-jail felony endangering a child in 2019. On Wednesday, Doggett pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and aiding and abetting before U.S. Magistrate Judge Christine L. Stetson.
SFA delights fans with spring football game
NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - In Nacogdoches after weeks of practice, the players and the fans were excited to get into some football Saturday afternoon for the SFA spring game. Quarterback Gavin Rutherford went deep down the sidelines to connect with wide receiver TJ Atkins, who made a nice catch and was able to just waltz his way into the endzone. That play got the crowd up and going early in the game.
